The YMCA is seeking an Accountant to assist the Financial Controller in completing and maintaining all accounts payables including the internal corporate purchasing card statement, daily deposits, tracking and maintaining the fixed assets management, and other duties as assigned.

Accountant Position Specific Competencies:

  • Maintains files related to daily deposit records
  • Prepares and reconciles daily receipts and cash disbursements to prepare bank deposits and delivers the daily bank deposit
  • Maintains and validates cash bags for the front desk
  • Completes daily cash flow summary detailing receipts, disbursements, and daily cash flow balance
  • Enters payments into the software for various departments
  • Maintains all files related to accounts payable
  • Inputs and codes all monthly invoices/purchases for payment of accounts payable and runs an appropriate verifying report
  • Runs account payable checks and appropriate reports
  • Files proper documentation including invoice, statement and/or validated check request in the appropriate paid file
  • Maintains all records related to purchasing card transactions
  • Prepares and reconciles accounts payable transactions for all cardholders
  • Maintains card information for all active cards, establishing new users who are cardholders and Out Of-Pocket users
  • Reconciles the System Credit report and the gift card account
  • Is the primary person responsible for sorting all incoming mail into the appropriate mailboxes at the Fercho site daily
  • Is the primary person responsible for posting and preparing all outgoing mail at the Fercho site (The Member Relations Coordinator will be the secondary person in this position's absence and the Financial Development Coordinator in that person's absence)
  • Is the primary person responsible for monitoring and ordering office supplies as needed for both the back-office supply as well as supplies as requested by individual staff
  • Maintains and disposes of fiscal documentation per IRS regulations
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements

1. Required Education, Certifications, Experience:
  • Two- year Associate's Degree in Accounting with 2 years of directly related experience
2. Highly Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Prefer a 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Proficient use of computers with working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent accuracy in data entry
  • Highly organized
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Positive, effective, calm, and professional communication-verbally and written-with staff, members, children, parents and others-tailoring the communication style to the appropriate
    audience
  • The ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions
3. And must also complete:
  • Within 90 days of hire: 15 hours of basic childcare training through Child Care Aware
  • Within 90 days of hire: CPR/FA Certification for Adult, Child, Pediatrics
