Description:

ASN Constructors is a joint venture of three international contractors (Acciona, Shikun & Binui and North American Construction Group) who will work with the Metro Flood Diversion Authority and other area stakeholders to build a historic project that will protect the citizens of the Fargo-Moorhead area from flood waters from the Red River. The Safety Inspector will provide site safety leadership, ensure compliance with company safety standards, implement safety directives, improve safety performance, and ensure Company safety policies and procedures are aligned with federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect active project sites to evaluate ongoing work conditions to guarantee compliance
  • Liaise with external parties such as government-employed inspectors to evaluate the process of construction sites
  • Work with project management teams and field workers to implement and device solutions to safety-related issues on project sites
  • Preparing and conducting safety training sessions for employees and vendors
  • Leading injury and incident inquiries and evaluations
  • Demonstrate good organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Help detects deficiencies and addressed deficiencies in a timely and effective manner
  • Responsible for preparing and submitting all regulatory reports in a timely manner
  • Train company employees on safe work practices and emergency procedures
  • Other duties and tasks as necessary and/or assigned to effectively carry out job responsibilities and maximize the effectiveness of this position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Read, analyze and interpret blueprints and technical procedures.
  • Write daily reports and document project activities
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to solve problems individually and in a team setting.
  • Requires the ability to communicate clearly and interface effectively with a diverse group of field level employees.

Experience/Qualifications:
  • 4 years post-secondary education preferred, Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 3-5 years of progressive field safety experience in the construction field
  • OSHA30 certification
  • OSHA500 Authorization highly recommended
  • First Aid/ CPR/AED Instructor Certification preferred
  • Must possess a valid Driver License

Work Environment:
  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
  • Noise levels in the work environment is usually loud
  • Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest

Physical Demands:
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Extensive moving or positioning heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and ascend/descend to reach materials or enter heavy equipment.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
