Engineering Technician III

This position is responsible for the observation of construction and serves as an onsite project representative.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of the plans and contract documents as well as their application on assigned projects
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner while interacting with the public and clients
  • Obtain measurements and thoroughly detailed progress information of construction activities
  • Coordinates on-site testing when needed
  • Inspects and documents materials prior to installation
  • Identify potential problems and present solutions to the project team
  • Able to work independently on large scale projects
  • Interprets and complies with company mandated safety policies
  • Travel to project sites will be required - overnights out of town -
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in the Construction or Civil Engineering industry
  • NDDOT certifications/experience a plus
  • Must be able to work the same hours as the contractor, up to 16 hours a day when indicated
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to prepare engineering records and to write concise technical reports
  • Must be able to interpret construction plans, specifications, and maps
  • Must have valid driver's license and be insurable
  • Ability to perform physical work (i.e. strenuous walking, lifting 50+ pounds, catching basin grates and manhole covers, hauling equipment, etc.)
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
