Job Details

As a Survey Crew Chief, you are responsible for coordinating and directing survey crews and office staff to ensure that all surveys are completed to the standards of practice for land surveying and engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Direct the work of survey technicians, organize, and maintain field crew production to meet deadlines.
• Perform office and field tasks related to land surveying and civil engineering projects, understanding project requirements and scope.
• Follow company procedures and state requirements to ensure proper data formats.
• Communicate project progress with Registered Land Surveyor and Office Manager via verbal and written updates.
• Work independently, making technical decisions within authorized limits.
• Maintain accurate field notes, supervise crew's sketches, notes, and electronic data collection.
• Maintain boundary survey calculations and client relations.
• Ensure crew adherence to safety procedures and proper use of safety equipment.
• Record time, mileage, and project changes accurately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in civil engineering, surveying, or equivalent experience.
• At least two years of surveying experience.
• Ability to operate survey equipment including Trimble GPS, Robotic, and Total Station.
• Proficient with Trimble Business Center and Trimble Geomatics Office.
• Physical ability to perform strenuous work, including walking, lifting 50-100 pounds, loading/unloading equipment.
• Ability to understand and maintain field data.
• Valid driver's license and insurability.
