The Business Development Director is a strategic sales and market leader responsible for driving new business within the broadband engineering and managed IT / Cybersecurity services. This role involves cultivating relationships with existing and new clients to expand business. Success requires a goal-oriented individual with demonstrated success in engineering services and accountability for revenue generation and business growth.

Job Duties

  • Identify new opportunities with new customers.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise by understanding the competitive landscape in broadband engineering and cybersecurity industries.
  • Utilize consultative selling techniques to increase market share by expanding deal size and enhancing service value.
  • Achieve growth goals by expanding current account relationships and acquiring new accounts.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen to navigate sales processes, presentations, contracts, negotiations, and reporting.
  • Consistently interface with customers to build relationships with executive sponsors and key decision-makers.
  • Report and manage strategic business development and sales plan, performing root cause analysis to address performance gaps.
  • Manage a health pipeline in the CRM, documenting activities, events and ensuring business leaders have insight into upcoming projects.
  • Provide expertise to target and win new business in assigned accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong alliances with Project Management teams for continuous business process improvement.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills including relationship building, organizational agility, and command skills.
  • Provide technical capabilities/resources/guidance to manage projects as needed.

Skills/ Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required in electrical (EE) engineering, computer science or electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience selling technical services
    • Preferred experience in broadband engineering sales selling to broadband providers and/or electric cooperatives, especially in rural or underserved markets.
  • Proven success in initiating, cultivating, and managing accounts.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to drive deals to closure.
  • Competence with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Desired proficiency in a CRM.
  • Ability to follow sales systems, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • High-energy and self-starter attitude.
  • Demonstrates high levels of personal character and integrity.
  • Team player who collaborates and builds excitement around the organization.
  • Proven ability to align customer goals with company solutions.
  • Willingness to travel nationally; approximately 30% of the time.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and be insurable

The total compensation (base salary + incentive comp based on sales quotas) for this position is $110,000-$155,000. The range displayed on this job posting reflects total compensation for the position based in our North Dakota location. Within the range, total compensation is determined by additional factors, including hitting sales targets, education, experience, credentials, and job-related skills.
