Department Details

Join our dedicated Maternal Fetal Medicine team, where we focus on managing diabetes in pregnant patients. Our collaborative team includes APRNs, Registered Nurses, and Registered Dietitians. You will share the workload with another Diabetes Educator, supported by MFM Providers and Dietitians. Your role will involve leading both group and individual classes throughout the week alongside communicating with patients via messages and phone calls.

Our services are provided at two locations: the Broadway Clinic and the I94 Clinic, with a predictable schedule of Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, ensuring work-life balance with no evenings, nights, or weekend calls.

Job Summary

As a Certified Diabetes Educator, you will:

  • Provide education to patients on self-care related to diabetes.
  • Collect patient data regularly to monitor and manage their health status.
  • Organize and deliver diabetes self-care materials, including nutrition, medication, physical activity, and glucose testing.
  • Guide patients in making necessary lifestyle changes for diabetes management.
  • Monitor and provide nutrition therapy tailored to clients of all ages.
  • Recognize and address nutritional needs considering cultural, ethnic, and religious beliefs.
  • Make recommendations for health improvements based on patient data analysis and refer patients to other healthcare providers when necessary.
  • Implement program management principles to foster effective self-management of diabetes.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in dietetics or food and nutrition from an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited program.
  • Clinical nutrition experience through an approved Coordinated Undergraduate Program or postgraduate internship.
  • Three years of experience as a Registered Clinical Dietitian.
  • Thorough knowledge of normal nutrition, diabetes self-management skills, and medical nutrition therapy.
  • Registration by the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR) and licensure as a Dietitian or Nutritionist in the state(s) of practice.
  • Certification by the National Credentialing Board of Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) as a Certified Diabetes Educator.
