Job Summary

The Senior Associate General Counsel serves as a key legal advisor, delivering high-level legal support and strategic counsel across Noridian. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and support business objectives. The Senior Associate General Counsel combines deep legal expertise with strong communication and problem solving to identify and navigate complex legal issues and drive informed decision-making.

Essential Functions

  • Provides high-level legal counsel and strategic advice on contracting, healthcare compliance, employment law, corporate governance, and risk management.
  • Leads and manages complex legal projects and initiatives across the organization; represents the Legal Department in cross-functional meetings and strategic planning sessions.
  • Identifies, assesses, and mitigates legal risk within the company, collaborating with internal departments to balance operational needs and company risk tolerance.
  • Oversees the contracting function, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of contracts and legal documents.
  • Supports growth initiatives in procurement and related activities, including pursuit opportunities, risk and conflict assessment, and partner relationships.
  • Supports internal investigations and responses to audits, subpoenas, and regulatory inquiries; manages and/or supports litigation matters and litigation support related to company clients.
  • Supports the General Counsel in overseeing legal department operations and mentoring junior legal team members.
  • Monitors and interprets changes in laws and regulations; advises on the impact of such changes on the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in North Dakota, or eligibility to register as a foreign lawyer in North Dakota.
  • 8 years of legal experience with a law firm or a corporate legal department.
  • Initiative to identify critical information and issues; ability to apply expert-level problem solving to navigate complex issues and deliver forward-thinking, actionable recommendations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and effectively drive, influence and/or delegate decision-making across all levels within a matrixed organization.
  • High standards of professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment in handling sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with federal healthcare programs and agencies such as CMS, HHS, or VA.
  • Experience in a government contracting or healthcare-related organization, with FAR, DFARS, HIPAA and state privacy laws.
  • 5 years of contracting experience, including IP and technology experience (included within the minimum 8 years of overall experience).
  • Understanding of federal procurement laws, healthcare regulations and corporate compliance.

Salary Range: The pay range for this position is $120,436.17 - $197,788.33 per year, with variation based on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
