The NDSU Center for Diagnostic and Therapeutic Strategies in Pancreatic Cancer (CDTSPC) is recruiting a Histology/pathology technician to manage a newly established Histology Core Facility within the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. This is an NIH-grant (CDTSPC) funded position. This Core Facility aims to support the research missions of the Center and the broader NDSU community by providing tissue processing, staining, instrumentation, and imaging support. The salary will be commensurate based on the experience.

Primary duties include:

  • Receive and prepare tissue specimens for routine and special examinations.
  • Perform histological procedures using techniques to gross, embed, perform microtomy, and stain to make tissue slides for further analysis (training will be provided before the start).
  • Maintain histology lab equipment and provide training based on the requirements.
  • Coordinate within the Center for supply management and scheduling.
  • Ensure all lab safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards.
  • Work with self-discipline and good judgment while following established standards of practice.
  • Interact with clients and assist with experimental design.
Work Schedule: Full-time, 12-month, Non-Tenure Track Staff Position

Hiring Range: $57,000-$61,200

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in a STEM-related field

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM-related field
  • One year biomedical research experience
  • Experience with histology, including tissue processing, slide preparation, and staining.

  • Strong communication skills.
