Job Description
Position Title: Temporary Maintenance
Location: District
Department: Buildings & Grounds
Reports To: Directors of Buildings & Grounds
Term: May 16th, 2025 through August 25th, 2025
Schedule: Approx 8 hours/day on scheduled days. See Summary for more information.
Salary: Position follows the 2024-2025 Classified Salary Schedule at Temporary B212.
Salary is $17.80/hr.

SUMMARY: The Temporary Maintenance position is responsible for completing various maintenance-related tasks to ensure smooth functioning of district systems. The Temporary Maintenance position works to ensure the successful daily operations of district systems and safe and secure conditions for learners, staff, and the public. This role involves performing various maintenance duties necessary to maintain and enhance the value of the school district property.

The Temporary Maintenance position will also provide support for the upcoming relocation of the District Office.

Schedule will be determined with Directors of Buildings & Grounds. More information on working hours will be shared in the hiring process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
Collaboration:

  • Supports the District Office relocation project by assisting in the move of property, equipment, supplies, etc. from existing location to new District Support Center.
  • Supports moving items for excess property sales.
  • Supports moves of property, equipment, supplies, etc. at other district buildings.
  • Participates in maintenance projects as instructed by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
  • Assists in all aspects of property maintenance including grounds, custodial, preventative, corrective, deferred, and emergency maintenance.
  • Develops positive, effective working relationships with learners and staff.
Communication:
  • Notifies management of unsafe supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Connects and shares ideas through appropriate/applicable formats to express thoughts and ideas with integrity.
Compassion:
  • Understands the complexities of cultural and global issues and how they relate to employee and learners' experiences.
  • Partners with others to resolve potential controversy and conflict through respectful discussion.
  • Proactively seeks to understand the ideas, opinions, and skills of others.

  • Prioritizes service requests and establish preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Periodically inspects all buildings, common areas, and improvement areas performing repairs and janitorial assistance as needed.

  • Manages stock control and utilization of maintenance materials.

  • While performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this role, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms.

  • The specific vision abilities required for this role include close and peripheral vision.
  • The employee may be required to lift up to ~50 pounds.
  • The employee must work with the public and various WFPS staff while simultaneously managing several competing demands.
  • The employee will work in an environment that has a quiet to loud noise level.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and a clear MVR (Motor Vehicle Report).
  • More than two years of driving experience.
  • General knowledge of basic mechanics (machine and hand tools employed in mechanical work) is preferred.
  • General knowledge of diesel and gasoline powered equipment and maintenance (tire and tube repair, lubrication, etc.) is preferred.
  • General knowledge of preventative maintenance inspection methods is preferred.
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondences in the English language.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, expressively, and reactively.

Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgement.
  • Adhere to the assigned work schedule by maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
