Job Title: Building Quality Coach- Central ND

Accountable to: Director of Student Services

Supervised by: Lead Building Quality Coach

FLSA Status: Full-Time Exempt

Location: Open (Central North Dakota)

Salary: $50,000- $55,000

Employees under their Direct Supervision: None.

Standard Office Hours: Twelve-month position, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and other times to reach agency goals or job duties.

Decision Making Authority: Responsible for best interests of the South East Education Cooperative (SEEC) given what has been budgeted and carefully utilizes funding to achieve expected goals. Approval required from Director of Student Services (or assigned designee) on specific matters as outlined in policies and procedures.

Position Overview

The Building Quality Coach (BQ) is the external coach that provides technical supervision and coaching support to early childhood providers and center staff to improve the quality of programming within the 8 human service regions. This role involves coaching and modeling evidence-based and best practices in early childhood content. Supports the overall goals, objectives, and strategies of the SEEC.

Significant Job Duties
90% Technical Assistance and Coaching Support:

• Support the implementation of evidence-based Building Quality Initiatives (i.e. SEEDS of Early Learning for 3-5 Year Olds, SEEDS for Infant & Toddlers, SEEDS for Family Child Care, Pyramid Model, math and science skills, etc.), that prepare early childhood educators develop social, emotional, language and literacy skills.
• Complete classroom/program observations, coaching, and assist with collecting data to offer recommendations for continuous improvement focusing on a number of content ranging from health and safety, child development, social and emotional, literacy and numeracy, and supportive environments.
• Assist providers/programs to develop SMARTE goals and supports to make progress and achieve goals. Provide feedback, time for reflection, and promote goal setting.
• Support site development of data-based decision-making skills by working with providers to understand current student and environmental assessment practices and needs to offer recommendations on data collection and progress monitoring.
• Create supporting resources (i.e. fidelity checklists) based on licensing and early childhood standards.
• Collaborate with other CCA staff to communicate about areas of improvement and professional development needs based on observation data.
• Consult with center staff on early childhood instruction, assessment and intervention, including the ability to model, observe and provide corrective feedback, ask questions to solve challenges, exercise sound judgment, and communicate effectively with individuals, teams and providers.
• Audit, develop and facilitate other identified trainings to support child care programs and providers across the state.

5% Sustain Long Term Viability and Growth

• In conjunction with the Director of Student Services, review the current programs and identify potential opportunities that align to the agency's strategic goals.

5% Professional Development

• Build and extend own knowledge through a variety of professional development activities including but not limited to webinars, training classes, special certifications and by engaging in other professional development activities.

Essential Skills, Experience and Expertise

• BS or BA in Earlychildhood Education or Child Development OR Bachelors degree in related field with at least 24 semester credits of Early Childhood Education OR Bachelors degree or higher in non-related field with atleast 24 semester credits of Early Childhood Education PLUS a valid ND Teaching License in PreK-K or K-3.?
• Currently holds or will obtain within first 30 days of employement the ND Growing Futures Building Quality Coach endorsement.
• Experience facilitating adult learners through training, coaching, supervision and observation

• Exceptional interpersonal skills for effectively communicating and problem-solving with the early childhood field.
• Strong capacity to be flexible and adaptable to varied circumstances, paired with a conscientious commitment to fidelity; strong self-initiative and independent follow-through
• Knowledge of and experience in working within early childhood settings, paired with a desire for continued professional development for ongoing learning

• Confidentially: Requires proper protection, handling, storage and disposal of confidential and personally identifiable information (PII).
• Math Skills: Adept at addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, fractions and basic descriptive statistics.
• Financial Management and Analysis: Able to develop, track, analyze and explain budgets, expenses and variances.
• Presentations / Speaking skills: Can develop and deliver effective small and large group presentations to a variety of clients and stakeholders.
• Reading and Writing Skills: College Level: Requires analysis, synthesis and evaluation skills in a variety of areas per Bloom's taxonomy.

• Driver's License: Required. Position requires up to 50% travel within regional area to conduct site observations and coaching sessions. Some overnight travel on occasion for visits or professional development.
• Use of software and office equipment: Ability to use smart phones and tablets, cloud based and internet apps, standard office equipment (copier, fax etc), computers, Microsoft office, QuickBooks, other specialized software and the internet. Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint to create and alter documentations, forms, presentations and graphs. Able to retrieve / store documents on computer (desktop/laptop), shared site or on cloud based service.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Interaction levels with others: Requires high levels of interactions with others internal and external to the agency.

• Ability to work under pressure and deadlines while maintaining professional demeanor.
• Alternative schedules and overtime expectations are frequent.
• Sit / Stand / Walk / Stoop: Up to 8-10 hours a day for each activity individually or combined.
• Use of Phone/ Computer /Software / Office Equipment: Up to 8-10 hours a day for each activity individually or combined.

• Climb / Pull / Lift: Up to 8-10 hours a day for each activity individually or combined. Move and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Temperatures ranges for work environment: Mostly a typical office environment with temperatures of 60-85F, but can experience temperatures from -40 F to 110F when performing tasks outside of office.
• Noise: Noise levels reflect typical office environment and may require hearing protection when using certain equipment or entering certain areas.
• Hazardous Conditions or Chemicals Exposure: Exposure to small quantities of hazardous chemicals found in office supplies such as toner, glues, etc.

Special Position Requirements

• Clothing: Professional attire that creates positive impression on staff, clients, stakeholders, Board Members and funding or partner organizations.

Position Accountabilities, Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Position requires close collaboration with the Director of Student Services, Student Services Team, early childhood stakeholders, other Regional Education Associations, SEEC Employees along with Community and Funding Agencies.

Performance is equally a function of goal attainment; timely and accurate completion of assignments; building positive internal and external relationships; and planning, communicating and coordinating work to avoid last minute confusion and adherence legal/compliance guidelines and policies/procedures.
