Overview
Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a motivated Loss Control Consultant. The position is flexible in location and may be available remotely based on department needs.
Responsibilities
- Delivery of high quality multi-line risk evaluations and loss analysis of exposures and controls related to Workers' Compensation, Property, Inland Marine, Umbrella, Builders' Risk, Products/Completed Operations, Commercial Auto, Garage Liability/Dealer's Blanket and General Liability.
- Collaborate with internal associates, departments, and agency partners to provide effective risk improvement consultations that positively influence loss ratios, relationships, profitable new business growth and account retention.
- Provide collaborative, consultative Loss Control services to policyholders, moving service issues forward and improving loss exposures, performance, and overall cost of risk.
- Conduct on-site visits of existing and prospective policyholders and complete comprehensive survey reports evaluating operations, exposures and controls, and provide an overall assessment for underwriting profitability.
- Prepare value-based correspondence summarizing visit activities, including solutions-based discussions and meaningful recommendations to minimize policyholder exposure to loss.
- Act as a technical resource for Underwriters, other internal departments, agency partners and policyholders. Help identify exposures and implement effective controls to minimize risk.
- Provide value-added services to support risk reduction strategies such as safety culture development, risk identification, program development, safety training, and loss analysis evaluation.
- Market Loss Control capabilities and Auto-Owners' competitive differentiation to policyholders and agency partners, focusing on building positive relationships to attract and retain profitable business.
- Contribute to the evolution of the Loss Control Department by sharing technical skills and knowledge, mentoring, coaching, and training new and less experienced staff.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in safety-related sciences, engineering, related field, or equivalent OR an Associate's degree in Occupational Safety and Health with related work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of increasing levels of related Loss Control and Commercial lines Property/Casualty insurance experience
- Relevant designations such as ALCM, OHST, ARM, CFPS, CIH, ASP and/or CSP
