Overview

Access and Reimbursement Manager (ARM) is a field-based role that proactively provides in person (or virtual as needed) education to defined accounts within their assigned geographies on a wide range of access and reimbursement topics and needs in support of aligned product strategy. ARM serves as the key contact and lead for access and reimbursement support-related matters and is responsible for being the local market access expert on payer policy coverage, multi-channel acquisition pathways, billing and coding, claims processing, reimbursement, and integration of manufacturer support programs into account workflows. The ARM will problem solve, analyze access and reimbursement issues and opportunities, and proactively communicate changes in the healthcare landscape. The role partners closely with NPC field associates (Customer Engagement and Market Access) and coordinates cross-functionally within NPC (e.g., Patient Support Center, Marketing, Public Affairs, State & Government Affairs, Trade, Specialty Pharmacy Account Management, and other affiliates). This is a remote and field-based role covering Minneapolis, MN; North Dakota; South Dakota; and Colorado. The associate must reside within territory or within a reasonable daily commuting distance of 60 miles from the territory border.

Major Accountabilities

  • Interact within assigned accounts to support patient access within their therapeutic area product(s), providing proactive face-to-face education on product-specific programs to providers and staff to support integration into office processes and workflows.
  • Address customer questions related to NPC policies on product ordering, payment, inventorying, and returns/replacements in offices.
  • Collaborate with providers, administrators, billing and coding staff, claims departments, and revenue cycle managers to support patient access to products.
  • Analyze problems and offer solutions related to payer policies (utilization management, denials, appeals), drug acquisition, inventory management, and patient/practice reimbursement (Co-pay, administration, drug claims); identify local, regional, and national reimbursement trends and share insights.
  • Support pull-through on local coverage decisions to enable patient access; proactively communicate policy changes or issues affecting other departments.
  • Stand up and maintain NVS-sponsored patient support programs (e.g., Co-pay) to enable patients starting and staying on therapy.
  • Maintain expertise in regional/local access landscape and act as the aligned product reimbursement expert as needed.
  • Interface with the Patient Support Center on patient case management, tracking, resolution, reimbursement support, and office staff education; review patient-specific information as requested by sites.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional NPC teams to share insights on customer needs and barriers for access and reimbursement of aligned therapeutic area product(s).
  • Maintain understanding of NPC policies and ensure compliance with privacy laws (PII/HIPAA) and company guidelines; report adverse events per established processes.

What You'll Bring To The Role

Education

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum three to five years in public or private third-party reimbursement, managed care, clinical support, or pharmaceutical sales.
  • Experience with specialty pharmacy products via Specialty Pharmacy networks.
  • Experience with coding, billing, and in-office support programs.
  • Prior account management experience or experience with complex accounts (payer landscape, high patient volume, large systems).
  • Specialty pharmacy experience required.
  • Ability to establish relationships within a practice and help remove reimbursement barriers for specialty products.
  • Knowledge of CMS policies and Medicare Parts B and D is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Managed Care, Government and Federal payer sectors, and IDN/Integrated Health Systems a plus.
  • Team-oriented with ability to collaborate across sales and internal teams to reach goals.
  • Ability to travel; large multistate geography coverage; approximately 50% travel required.
  • Must reside within assigned territory and hold a valid driver's license; driving is an essential function.

Desirable Requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple products; excellent presentation skills; advanced medical insurance terminology; strong teamwork and project management skills; ability to work independently; budget management; good driving record; ability to travel and arrange travel; strong computer skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Salesforce).
  • Understanding of patient privacy laws including HIPAA and related state laws; strong business acumen.

Compensation & Benefits

The pay range at commencement is expected to be between $138,600.00 and $257,400.00/year, with ranges potentially adjusted during the year. Final pay determinations depend on location, experience, and abilities. The total compensation may include a sign-on bonus, RSUs, discretionary awards, and standard benefits (401(k), PTO, etc.). At-will employment; base salary and other compensation may change with market factors.

The role may require initial training, including home study and in-person sessions. Driving is an essential function; a valid driver's license is required.
