Hybrid work option with potential for remote work based on experience and qualifications. This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, Texas (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday).

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of group underwriters and review/analyze requests for proposals for insurance coverage for prospective groups and needed rate actions for in-force groups at renewal. This role combines hands-on underwriting with team leadership, using underwriting software to assess risk and determine premium rates.
• Manage underwriting operations for supplemental health products marketed to employer groups, trusts, and associations; maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders and external brokers to ensure accurate risk assessment and competitive positioning.
• Collaborate with Actuarial, Sales Directors, and the Proposals/Implementation team; enter decisions and rates into rating tools and databases; request proposals as needed in Salesforce; log group details and rating information in actuarial tools.
• Ensure clear communication of rates and terms to internal teams and external brokers; provide information requests and rationale for decisions as needed.

What You Can Bring

• Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 8-12 years experience with Group Insurance sales and service.
• Working knowledge of group health market distribution and products; ability to foster cross-functional collaboration.
• Independent working style with general supervision; strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Salesforce, SQL, and data analytics tools; strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of underwriting policies, risk appetites, and industry standards; ability to explain facts, policies, and practices clearly.
