Forest Health - 2026 Seasonal Forestry Technician Description and Details

Duties:

  • Address public and private tree health assistance requests statewide.
  • Assist with insect trapping for emerald ash borer.
  • Apply Forest Health sampling methods to accompany assistance visits.
  • Conduct tree health surveys in communities statewide.
  • Collect and manage data to assist long-term FH monitoring.
  • Coordinate with Forest Health manager and full-time staff to provide field services for ongoing Forest Health initiatives statewide.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, April 1, 2026 through September 1, 2026 (start and end date are negotiable)

Advertised Pay: Starting at $22.00/hour.

Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Experience working with landowners on forestry or related conservation practices.
  • Familiarity with the use of forestry tools, forest inventory and field sampling techniques.
  • Familiarity with identifying trees and shrubs common to ND.
  • Knowledge and experience with various field sampling methods.
  • Highly self-motivated, dedicated, outgoing, confident, and ethical.
  • Ability to work safely without direct supervision.
