Human Resource Generalist

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with management in supporting designated projects. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.

Responsibilities include administering various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assisting in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; preparing and maintaining employee handbook, policies, and procedures. Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems. Administers, monitors, evaluates, and revises the compensation, and performance management programs as necessary. Performs benefits administration to include reporting, enrollment, and education for employees. Develops and maintains and files EEO-1 report annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations. Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students, and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations and writes and places advertisements. Assists with employee relations counseling and exit interviewing. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed. Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database. Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment. Assists in the design and execution of employee engagement programs and surveys. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Candidate requirements include a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certification preferred. 5-7 years of experience in a generalist HR role or equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with HRIS platforms such as Kronos and Oracle is preferred. Experience with employee lifecycle management, compliance, and HR analytics is a plus.

Personal trait profile includes problem solving/analysis, project management, communication proficiency, ethical conduct, and time management.

Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reaching with hands and arms; talking and hearing. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work environment includes exposure to changes in temperature and humidity, exposure to dust, fumes, and is near moving machinery.

HIPAA Privacy Training and Sanctions: All employees who have access to health information that is protected by the HIPAA Privacy Rule are required by the Rule to receive training so that they have an understanding and knowledge of the Privacy Rule that corresponds to their job responsibilities and of the group health plan's policies and procedures that impact their job duties. Training on the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the plan's health information policies and procedures are under the direction of the plan privacy officer. Employees who violate the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination.
