This position is responsible to perform skilled and semiskilled manual work for the Bolley Agricultural Laboratory; perform duties associated with the installation, maintenance, and repair of greenhouse systems; the care and maintenance of research equipment associated with plant research; perform programming and monitoring of computer software (Argus) for controlling conditions in greenhouses; perform semiskilled manual work including the use of hand tools, power tools, hand sprayers, lawn equipment, snow removal equipment; provide supervision and training for part-time and seasonal employees and general support for other areas within the Bolley Agricultural Laboratory.

Duties Include:

Assist facility manager in monitoring software and controls for appropriate heating, cooling, and lighting of the research greenhouses (10%).

Troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, plumbing, and mechanical malfunctions on greenhouse equipment, facility systems, and related equipment (75%).

Assist with supervising and training part time employees (5%).

Lead contact for snow removal and lawn care (5%).

Serve as backup pesticide applicator, assist with autoclaving, assist with general building and greenhouse operations (5%).

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday; Normal Business Hours

Hiring Range:

$47,791 to 63,722 Depending on Experience

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications:

HS Diploma or Equivalent, Valid Driver's License, and Ability to obtain ND Pesticide Application License

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to read electrical/mechanical blueprints and schematics.
A.S. Electrical Technology and or HVAC
2 years experience in greenhouse or lab maintenance
Experience in operating skid steers, mowers, other small equipment

Core Competencies:

Requires the use of computers, hand tools, power tools, lab equipment, hand sprayers, lawn mowing equipment, and snow removal equipment. This position requires interpersonal communication skills, organization skills, self-motivated, and attention to detail.
