Financial leader overseeing up to six assigned Areas. Key business partner supporting the Region VP Finance, Area Presidents and other cross-function team members. Responsible for each assigned Area's financial planning & analysis and control activities. Leads assigned Area Finance leaders. Partners with multiple functional Area leads to achieve Area, Region and company goals. Assesses Area performance against Business Plan and Forecast, develops recommendations and initiates corrective actions.

This position has been segmented at Region Remote meaning one must travel to multiple sites as needed and live within the assigned Region or a bordering state of the physical location.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Area Finance Teams
    • Direct oversight of Area Finance leaders at remote locations.
    • Ensure that daily, monthly and quarterly responsibilities are being met.
    • Train, coach, and develop Area Directors, Finance.
  • Planning & Forecasting
    • Support annual plan and forecast development for assigned Areas.
    • Ensure completion of planning and forecasting is accurate and on-time.
    • Work with cross-functional teams and line leadership (i.e. Supply Chain, Merchandising) to develop targets and action plans to achieve company financial objectives.
    • Identify and communicate risks and opportunities.
    • Present plans and forecasts to senior leaders.
  • Decision Support/Analysis
    • Drive analysis for projects and business opportunities within the Region working with Region, Area and Support Office staff.
      • Major customer moves
      • New customers, supply chain projects, selling and admin, etc.
    • Provide financial support to the Region VP Finance and assist Area personnel with financial information and business support as necessary for sound decision making.
    • Work with Support Office to develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the Region VP Finance and make actionable strategy and operational recommendations.
  • Drive Business Results
    • Support efforts to drive revenue growth and enhance profitability through:
      • Review and guidance for all large local MDAs to support driving profitable revenue growth
      • Review and guidance on all upfront customer incentives to ensure profitable revenue growth
      • Review Area marketing initiatives and Territory Manager promotions to provide guidance on qualifications and potential effectiveness
      • Enhance Margins through implementation of Region-wide initiatives to reduce or slow down growth of customer rebates
      • Perform daily and weekly reviews of results dashboards, analyze data, provide insightful explanations of variances/trends, and coordinate implementation of action plans to improve performance and ensure annual business plans are met.
      • Develop financial recommendations for gap closing activities.
      • Provide oversight of inventory adjustments and inventory investment.
  • Establish and Maintain Controls
    • Responsible for all assigned Area SOX controls.
    • Conduct reviews to ensure completion of SOX evidencing, fluctuation analysis and compliance testing at the Area level to ensure integrity of company financial results.
    • Partner with Support Office to develop and implement company policies and procedures. This includes risk assessment assistance for internal audit, participation in the final reviews from Area visits, and resolution of open field issues.
  • Key Financial Leader for the Region
    • Communicate monthly and quarterly financial results to Region and Support Office personnel.
    • Provide financial support to the Region VP Finance and assist Regional personnel with financial information and business support as needed for sound decision making.
    • Work with Area and Region leadership, Controller's Group, Managed Services, COE, and Support Office to improve Area profitability and drive Area, Region and company initiatives.
    • Through meetings and reviews, gain understanding of operating results to facilitate monthly Area business review process including quarterly presentations to senior leaders.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

  • Area Director, Finance I
Relationships:
  • Internal: Region VP Finance, Area Presidents, Area Senior Staff, Area Directors, Finance, Regional Credit staff, COE, cross-functional Support Office staff
  • External: External auditors, customers, vendors, Third Party Managed Services
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10 years of accounting and/or financial analysis management experience
  • Proven experience and effectiveness in leading and influencing others
  • General knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and SOX
  • Broad skillset in financial analysis and financial modeling
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Travel up to 75%
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or MBA
  • Industry experience and understanding of inventory management
  • Experience that includes collaboration within a functional matrixed environment and virtual leadership across multiple sites
  • Anaplan experience


This role will also receive an annual incentive plan bonus and LTI incentive.

Grade: 18
Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between
$130,000 - $215,000
