Dickey County Aging in Community Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator will oversee the implementation of the Aging in Community (AIC) program. The purpose of the AIC program is to coordinate support and resources to improve the quality of life for older adults who wish to stay in their homes, along with their caregivers. The coordinator will be a member of an NDSU Extension team responsible for providing leadership to implement this innovative grant-funded program by working with community stakeholders to identify creative solutions to rural aging issues. This is a 3-year grant-funded program (July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028).

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and administration on the Aging in Community program
  • Work closely with the local Steering Committee and community partners to successfully respond to local needs by developing and offering support and services for older residents
  • Provide programming including education, social engagement, meeting individual needs for older adults and other prioritized needs
  • Promote the AIC program to area residents, groups, and agencies, and organizations
  • Develop and coordinate a marketing/outreach strategy (website, social media, newsletter)
  • Assist with local fundraising efforts
  • Develop, coordinate and facilitate a volunteer program
  • Monitor, track and record program activities
  • Assist in carrying out program evaluation tasks
  • Provide transportation in some specific situations
  • Some weekend and evening work is required.
  • Travel within and outside the service area is required.
  • Overnight trips are required on occasion for meetings and professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. BA or BS in Business, Human Services, Education, Administration, Health or related field
  2. Strong leadership, administration and organizational skills
  3. Understanding of rural life and the challenges faced by older adults living in rural communities
  4. Effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to address and engage audiences
  5. Sensitive in working with program clients
  6. Interpersonal skills in working with steering committee, staff, donors, funders and clients
  7. Strong problem-solving skills
  8. Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new programs (Microsoft office, program management software, social media, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications:

1.Experience in leadership, administration and development
2.Experience in working with older adults
3.Experience in managing grants
4.Experience in supervising staff and volunteers
5.Experience with fundraising activities and events

Position: .6 FTE

Salary: Commensurate with qualification and experiences
