Overview

A leading national organization is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Research Specialist to join their team at their Charlotte headquarters. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working in a fast-paced payroll environment, and driving process improvements.

You will serve as a second-level escalation point for payroll-related inquiries, partnering with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing across a large, multi-state workforce.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as 2nd-level support to research and resolve payroll-related work orders and escalations
• Partner with Customer Service teams to assist with complex payroll inquiries and high-priority issues
• Conduct root cause analysis to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for process improvement
• Mentor and support team members by reviewing work orders for accuracy and completeness
• Ensure consistent application and interpretation of payroll policies and procedures
• Utilize payroll systems (SAP and related tools) to troubleshoot issues and recommend enhancements
• Identify opportunities to reduce errors, improve accuracy, and streamline processes
• Support audit activities and contribute to development of new audit controls
• Assist with training initiatives and ongoing team development

• Bachelor's degree required
• 1+ year of customer service or call center experience (payroll environment preferred)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• SAP Payroll experience strongly preferred
