Correctional Officer

The Clay County Sheriff's Department is accepting applications to be considered for open positions as a Full-Time and Variable Hour (Part-Time) Correctional Officer.

Application Deadline: Open until filled

Status: Non-Exempt

Shifts: Full-time Correctional staff have day and night shifts 7:00-7:00 that rotate every 4 months. Variable Hour (Part-Time) shifts and hours vary each week. Variable Hour positions will average less than 19 hours per week.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma
• At least 18 years of age
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must successfully complete a background investigation and agility test.

If you are an eligible military veteran and wish to claim Veteran's Preference, you must present a legible photocopy of your DD214 form to the Office of Human Resources. All veterans who are certified will be considered for appointment.

Duties and Essential Functions

1. Booking and processing those admitted to the jail.
2. Well-being checks, and conduct area searches.
3. Provide meals, clothing, programs, and medication to the inmates.
4. Maintain security and safety for the Correctional Facility.
