We are conducting a confidential search for a Director of Operations at an ultra luxury resort in the Southwest United States. This executive leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily resort operations, ensuring Forbes level service standards, and driving overall operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and financial performance.

The Director of Operations will provide strategic leadership across multiple resort divisions while maintaining a strong presence throughout the property. This individual will collaborate closely with department leaders to ensure seamless guest experiences and consistent execution of luxury service standards. Recent experience should include Forbes, Relais and Chateaux or similar.

Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership and operational oversight for Front Office, Concierge, Bell Services, Valet, Housekeeping, Laundry, Food and Beverage, Resort Activities, Engineering, and Landscaping

Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all operational systems, procedures, and service standards across the resort

Partner closely with department leaders to ensure exceptional guest service delivery and consistent execution of Forbes level standards

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with quality assurance teams, service trainers, and operational leadership to ensure ongoing compliance with luxury service expectations

Ensure guest concerns and service opportunities are addressed promptly and professionally, with a focus on service recovery and continuous improvement

Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to department heads and operational leaders, including conducting performance reviews and supporting talent development initiatives

Monitor departmental performance to ensure profitability objectives are achieved and operational efficiencies are maintained

Identify opportunities to increase revenue, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the guest experience

Oversee labor management, operational expenses, and departmental budgets while maintaining service excellence

Monitor and control divisional expenses including supplies, equipment, and operational resources

Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and long term operational planning to support resort goals

Engage with VIP guests, homeowners, and group or meeting planners to ensure elevated service delivery and strong guest relationships

Lead regular operational meetings and communicate effectively across departments to ensure alignment and collaboration

Ensure operational training programs are implemented and maintained in accordance with luxury and Forbes level standards

Maintain a visible leadership presence throughout the resort and support a culture focused on guest satisfaction and team engagement

Qualifications

Three to five years of experience as Director of Operations, Resort Manager, or General Manager within a luxury resort environment. Forbes, Relais and Chateaux or similar.

Strong operational leadership experience across multiple resort departments

Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, labor, and operational expenses

Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and drive operational improvements

Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Advanced hospitality systems knowledge and PMS experience preferred

Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience

Strong guest relations and team leadership skills required

Must be authorized to work in the United States

Flexible schedule required including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts
