Description:
Diversified Systems is searching for a Senior Software Configuration/Release Engineer who is responsible for designing, automating, and maintaining cloud configuration, release, and infrastructure management processes across AWS environments. This role ensures highly available, secure, compliant, and well-governed cloud platforms through effective automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), patch management, backup strategy, and certificate governance. The engineer will work closely with DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams to support stable, reliable statewide services.

Responsibilities:

  • Cloud configuration and infrastructure automation.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain configuration management processes, policies, and standards for AWS environments.
    • Build, deploy, and enhance infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of AWS resources (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, ACM).
    • Manage and optimize multiple environments (Dev, Test, Stage, Prod) ensuring configuration consistency and security.
  • Release engineering and AWS DevOps.
  • Senior experience supporting automation pipelines using the AWS Code Suite: CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and CodePipeline.
  • Work closely with DevOps teams to support release activities, deployments, rollbacks, configuration updates, and environment readiness.
    • Backup, patching, and compliance.
    • Design and maintain automated AWS backup solutions to ensure data integrity, resiliency, and compliance with state retention policies.
    • Implement automated patching workflows for cloud infrastructure to maintain required security and compliance posture.
    • Conduct periodic audits of environment configuration, patch levels, backup integrity, and certificate compliance and recommend and implement improvements.
  • Security and certificate management.
    • Manage installation, renewal, rotation, and validation of SSL/TLS certificates across AWS services.
    • Ensure secure communication configurations and alignment with state and federal security requirements.
  • Documentation, governance, and training.
    • Maintain detailed, accurate documentation of configuration baselines, IaC standards, module usage, and environment changes.
    • Provide training and guidance to team members on Terraform, AWS infrastructure best practices, backup strategies, patch automation, and certificate management.

Requirements:
  • 7 years senior experience using the AWS Code Suite: CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and CodePipeline, required.
  • 7 years working closely with DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams to support stable, reliable statewide services, required.
  • 3 years building, deploying, and enhancing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management, required.
  • 7 years designing and maintaining automated AWS backup and patching solutions to ensure data integrity, resiliency, and compliance with state retention policies, required.
  • 7 years managing installation, renewal, rotation, and validation of SSL/TLS certificates across AWS services, required.
  • 3 years maintaining detailed, accurate documentation of configuration baselines, IaC standards, module usage, and environment changes, required.
  • 3 years providing training and guidance to team members on Terraform, AWS infrastructure best practices, backup strategies, patch automation, and certificate management, required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Scripting experience (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation within AWS/Terraform.
  • AWS certification(s) and/or Terraform certification.
  • Experience working with state or local government environments.
  • Experience with vendor oversight or management.
  • Experience with project management or Agile delivery tools.
  • Experience with organizational change management (OCM).
