Job Title: Production Laborer - CNC Department
Job Description
The Production Laborer in the CNC Department supports the fabrication of granite and quartz components by preparing stone slabs, aligning materials with laser systems, selecting and loading CNC programs, and performing manual finishing work. This role focuses on accurate setup, measurement interpretation, and collaboration with CNC operators to ensure high-quality, efficient production in a fast-paced shop environment.
Responsibilities
Work around CNC tables to lay out granite and quartz slabs according to job specifications and production schedules.
Accurately position and align stone slabs on the CNC table using laser projection systems to ensure precise cuts and optimal material usage.
Use computer systems and CNC software to select and load the appropriate CNC program for each job, ensuring correct execution and minimizing errors.
Set up CNC runs by preparing materials, confirming measurements, and verifying that the correct program and tooling are in place.
Change out machine parts and tools as needed for different fabrication tasks, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent quality.
Identify and help resolve issues related to material alignment, program selection, or production flow to maintain efficiency and quality standards.
Read and interpret job layouts, blueprints, and measurements to ensure accuracy in fabrication and finishing.
Perform manual hand fabrication, finishing, and detailing work on stone surfaces to meet quality and aesthetic standards.
Use measuring tools such as calipers and inspection methods to verify dimensions and quality of finished parts.
Maintain clear communication with team members and assist the night shift CNC operator with transitions, updates, and shared responsibilities.
Support cross-shift collaboration by documenting job status, issues, and special instructions for incoming team members.
Manage time effectively by prioritizing tasks to meet production goals and deadlines.
Follow shop procedures and safety practices while working in a wet, production-oriented environment.
Essential Skills
Experience operating CNC machinery, preferably in a stone or countertop fabrication environment.
Proficiency with computers and CNC software for program selection and job setup.
Familiarity with laser alignment systems for accurate stone slab positioning.
Ability to read and interpret job layouts, blueprints, and measurements.
Hands-on experience working around CNC tables to lay out stones and set up program runs.
Knowledge of CNC setup processes, including part and tool changes.
Basic machining and inspection skills, including the use of calipers and other measuring tools.
Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address issues related to alignment, programming, or production flow.
Clear communication skills to coordinate with team members and support cross-shift operations.
Physical ability to lift heavy materials and remain on your feet for extended periods.
Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Prior experience in granite, quartz, or countertop fabrication environments.
Comfort working with automated CNC programs and following established production schedules.
Attention to detail in both digital program selection and manual finishing work.
Ability to contribute to evolving shop processes and support continuous improvement efforts.

Work Environment
This role is based in a production shop environment with active CNC fabrication of granite and quartz components. The shop uses CNC tables, laser projection systems, and computer-based CNC software, and there is significant water running throughout the fabrication area. The schedule options include a mid shift starting at 10:00 or 11:00 a.m. with 8–10 hour days, a first shift from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and a second shift from 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday, with training provided on days. Work is physically active, requires standing for extended periods, and involves handling heavy stone materials in a wet, industrial setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
