Description:

The Assistant Controller is responsible for complex accounting tasks, including the financial statement close process, preparing and analyzing financial data, reviewing and improving financial workflows, creating financial forecasts, and assisting the VP & Controller through various projects that support the organization's mission. This highly visible and dynamic position will be instrumental in the company's continued success, with an opportunity to be a part of a fast-paced and growing international organization.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Leadership, Management & Accountability (LMA) – Accounting ClerksProvide day-to-day leadership and supervision of Accounting Clerks (Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions)Establish clear performance expectations, priorities, and workflows to ensure timely and accurate transaction processingMonitor productivity, accuracy, and service levels; hold team members accountable to performance standardsCoach, develop, and evaluate staff; provide ongoing feedback and conduct Quarterly ConversationsDrive process discipline and continuous improvement within transactional accounting functions2. Month-End CloseLead and coordinate the monthly close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reportingPrepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedulesEnsure completeness and integrity of financial data across general ledger and sub-ledgers (AR, AP, inventory)Identify and resolve discrepancies; enforce adherence to close timelines and proceduresContinuously improve close efficiency, accuracy, and documentation standardsPerform and deliver financial analysis and reporting to support operational and strategic decision-makingAnalyze variances (actual vs. budget/forecast/prior periods) and communicate key drivers to leadershipDevelop and maintain financial models, KPIs, and dashboards for performance trackingProvide actionable insights on financial performance, risks, and opportunitiesSupport budgeting and forecasting processes as needed4. Product Cost Accounting & AnalysisOversee and maintain product costing methodologies (e.g., standard costing, actual costing as applicable)Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs to ensure accuracy and proper allocationMonitor cost variances and partner with operations to identify root causes and improvement opportunitiesEnsure integrity of cost data within the ERP system, including bills of materials (BOMs) and routingsSupport pricing decisions and margin analysis through detailed cost insights5. Production Accounting AnalysisAnalyze manufacturing and production-related financial data, including yields, scrap, and variancesPartner with operations leadership to evaluate production efficiency, capacity utilization, and cost performanceTrack and report on key production KPIs (e.g., labor efficiency, waste, throughput)Identify trends and recommend actions to improve operational and financial performanceEnsure alignment between production activity and financial reportingQUALIFICATIONSCPA and/or MBA preferred.Minimum of three years of accounting experience in a public accounting firm or private industry.Knowledge and proficiency of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Microsoft Power BI experience preferred but not required.PAY$110,000-$120,000 per yearSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position supervises the Accounting Clerks (AP & AR)#J-18808-Ljbffr
