Job TitleStarting Rate of Pay: $ 25.64 per hourShift Time: 2000-0430Shift Time: 2200-0630Position OverviewTransport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.Essential FunctionsPerform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jack and hand truckVerify documentation matches freight description (e.g. type, weight, hazardous materials), using current electronic or manual systemSecure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g. pallets, straps, rope)Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessaryVerify and complete required documentation and reportsAssist customers with freight and freight documentation as neededPerform hostling duties if requiredComply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/proceduresPerform other duties as requiredQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent, preferredMust be at least 18 years of agePrior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or fork lift operations preferredIf hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferredAbility to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculatorBasic written and verbal communication skillsAbility to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or moreAbility to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shiftAbility to work independently and/or as a team memberPrevious dock/warehouse experience preferredWorking ConditionsDock environment; exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, noiseHours may vary due to operational needFrequent contact with service center personnel; fast-paced, deadline orientedEST FedEx Freight, Inc FedEx Freight is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disabled and veterans.
