Packaging Tech LeadWe are looking for an individual to join our team as a Packaging Tech Lead at the Moorhead, MN factory. The purpose of this position is to be assigned to the day shift and accountable for the supervision and oversight of Packaging Tech Program. The primary responsibilities are to provide administrative, technical, and supervisory expertise to support overall Packaging/Warehouse operations.The principal accountability of this position includes, but is not limited to:Lead and promote a positive work culture through Company Values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, Teamwork, and AccountabilityLead the implementation of the Packaging Tech Program for the Moorhead facility to ensure 100+ Moorhead Packaging/Warehouse employees are making effective progression through the training programFill in for Packaging/Warehouse Assistant Supervisors, as needed, to cover for absencesOther duties as assignedPACKAGING TECH PROGRAM KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:Leads the on-boarding process for new-hires related to the Packaging Tech ProgramCreates structures for tracking new-hire and "grandfathered" employees progress in the Corporate Training Departments tracking systemEnsures documentation is properly completed for each module, and that employees understand the Packaging Tech ProgramMonitors progress for all employees in the Packaging Tech Program, developing individual plans for their training and advancementWorks in collaboration with the Corporate Training Department to coordinate and schedule courses needed for advancementPrepares presentations to upper management reporting on status of the Packaging Tech Program at plantOPERATIONS KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:Obtains full knowledge and understanding of all 7 packaging lines at Moorhead as well the bulk sugar loading operationFills in, as needed, to cover for absences, performing all duties of Packaging/Warehouse Assistant SupervisorsAssists the Packaging/Warehouse Supervisor and the Packaging/Warehouse Maintenance Supervisor in directing the daily activities of the day shift personnelWhen filling in for Assistant Supervisors: Supervises the completion of production orders, goals and inventory consistent with weekly, monthly, and annual targetsSupervises the quality, storage, and curing of production sugars in storage bins and determines source for bulk loading and packagingSupervises the bulk loading of sugar, pellets, and molasses, as well as the packaging of sugarCoordinates line changes to set up for different productsPrepares the Morning Report on production output, equipment status, and staffingTECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, and WordAbility to troubleshoot equipment operations and product quality issuesAbility to interpret technical manuals, drawings, and procedures to troubleshoot and optimize equipment operationsKNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:To be successful in this position requires 2-5 years of prior supervisory experience in a process manufacturing environment and a background in high-speed packaging line operations, bulk storage, and packaging is desirable. Knowledge in a technical field such as engineering, electronic controls, or maintenance is desired.The incumbent acquires a thorough technical understanding of the locations and operation of all warehousing and packaging equipment including auxiliary systems. Additionally, a thorough understanding of the safety issues and safe operation of all equipment and facilities must be achieved.Strong written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills in dealing with all levels of employees as well as marketing companies is essential. The incumbent must understand and be able to effectively apply food safety, quality assurance and safety regulations. The incumbent must possess a valid drivers' license.
